The Child (also known as Slendrina's Child), is an antagonist in Granny: Chapter Two. They were given birth by Slendrina, in an abandoned asylum. They live in the backyard of Grandpa's House, and guard their territory across the river from strangers.

Description[]

The Child is the offspring of Slendrina and Slendrina's Husband. They were born in an old, abandoned asylum, where they looked closer to Slendrina, though with time their appearance shifted closer to a human baby.

The Child lives in the Backyard of Grandpa's House, around the Shed, which they consider to be their territory. They are aggressive to strangers, as they will bite them until their knockout, but they can be calmed down by feeding them some meat. The Child co-operates with the Water Monster to subdue the Player.

Appearance[]

The Child has a grey skin color with a pinkish-red face. They have white eyes which lack pupils, a long flat nose, and an open mouth with an upper range of sharp teeth that they attack with. They have arms and legs, which are reversed, that they use to quickly crawl on the floor. The Child wears only a brown, bloodstained diaper.

Spawning[]

The Child always spawns in the Shed in any game. It spawning in or not is not affected by any difficulty option.

Behavior[]

The Child will sometimes ring the Bell in her cage to call Granny, which will alert her there to feed them with a piece of Meat. Granny will then place the meat on the child's plate while standing still near it, and the baby will have a meal by simply repeating their eating animation a few times, while an audio file that sounds like messy eating plays.

If the Player crosses the river to the Shed's side with nothing, The Child will immediately chase them, with intent to bite them. They will never cross to the side of the river though, even if it has been drained. The Child will only be peaceful to the Player if they hold the Meat. Their speed is not affected by any chosen difficulty.

The bites from The Child don't knock the Player out, rather stun them for a few seconds, preventing them from any action, until they stand back up. It has another danger, both Granny and Grandpa will be alerted as soon as the Player has been bitten by The Child.

The Child can be knocked down for an entire day, using the same conventional methods as one would for killing Granny and Grandpa. When this is done, Slendrina will appear above her child as a ghost head and wail. This will enrage Grandpa and Granny, allowing them to track the Player's location until they or the Player get knocked out.

Strategy[]

  • It is very convenient to use the Stun Gun to knock The Child out, especially when it spawns in the Bunker.
  • The Shotgun is also a good alternative, but it has limited ammo, making the Player vulnerable if both Granny and Grandpa are in the house.
  • The Meat can also be used to deter The Child without angering the grandparents, although do be wary that it can respawn in the Kitchen after a few minutes.
  • The Hand Grenades are also a good option as The Child is much more stationary and predictable than the grandparents.
  • One can use the Gasoline Can and Shotgun to blow up The Child, as well as Granny and Grandpa.
    • This is very impractical, as the Player may eliminate escape options if it hasn't already been used. Hand Grenades are also more practical as Players will not need to get as close.

Trivia[]

  • The Child appears in some games in the Slendrina series, like "The Child of Slendrina", "Slendrina: Asylum", "Slendrina: The Forest" and "Slendrina the Cellar 2".

  • Many popular YouTubers mistake The Child for Granny and Grandpa's pet, rather than Slendrina's Child, as they didn't remember or have never played any games in the Slendrina series.
  • The breathing sound of The Child originally came from the trailer for the game "The Child of Slendrina".
  • In Versions 1.1 and before, there was a glitch that made The Child follow Granny wherever she goes, even outside of their territory.
  • The Child might have been or was inspired by The Rake, due to them having a similar appearance.
  • The Child's gender is unknown as DVloper has referred to them as her and he on separate occasions. but the only time DVloper called the child "her" was in 2016, and the tweet that called it "he" was in 2019, which shows that the child was previously a girl and was changed to a boy.
